LIGHT SCHOOL
Youngsters are then schooled lightly in the ménage and hacked out alone on the farm. It is at this stage that owners are encouraged to come and work their horse with the team, as routine and continuity are one the most important aspects on their return home.
Once at home we normally advise that the horse hacks and schools lightly for a period of time, giving him the chance to settle into his new role. Rushing the horse into difficult school movements and expecting too much can reverse all the hard work and effort he has put in.
The development of a youngster into a well trained animal is a lengthy process, and a great team effort.
